PNG
For graphics & transparency
Lossless, sharp edges – ideal for logos or screenshots. An existing JPG background is not automatically made transparent.
JPG
For photos & small files
Widely compatible and usually much smaller. Adjust quality to balance file size against image fidelity.

For modern websites

How are my images processed?
Image files are read and converted exclusively using your browser's built-in functions. They are never sent to the LokalPix server or any third party.
Which image formats are supported?
LokalPix accepts JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, SVG and AVIF as input. PNG, JPG and WebP are available as output formats.
Does converting to PNG improve a JPG's quality?
No. Converting cannot undo existing compression artefacts. PNG stores the newly created image losslessly, but cannot recover lost detail.
Why can an SVG file be rejected?
SVG can contain active content and external references. LokalPix rejects such files as a precaution so that no external resources or scripts are loaded during local processing.
Can I export to AVIF?
AVIF is supported as input. Output formats are PNG, JPG and WebP because browsers cannot reliably encode AVIF via Canvas yet.
Does LokalPix work without installation?
Yes. A modern browser is all you need. After the first visit the installable web app can also be added to your home screen directly from the browser.
